Memorial Day 2008

I want to thank my foster father for serving in the Marines, I want to thank my ex-husband for serving in the Marines, I want to thank my son who will be leaving for Marine Boot Camp soon for the courage to serve his country.

I want to thank each and every person that served, fought, and died in the Armed Forces and their family members for their sacrifice.

God Bless you all on this Memorial Day 2008

Sincerely,

Dolores Pepper

Honolulu Marathon - Man Wins 2 in a Row

Travel Via Dolores congratulates Ambesse Tolosa of Ethiopia for winning his second consecutive Honolulu Marathon despite the unlpeasant weather conditions in time of 02:17:26.

Running a marathon makes you a winner in my book, but to win and to win two in a row, now that’s awesome! Congratulations Ambesse and all the runners of the Honolulu Marathon for giving your all.

This just in from the HonoluluMarathon.Org
Ambesse Tolossa of Ethiopia won the Honolulu Marathon for the second consecutive year on Sunday, with a relatively slow time of 2 hours, 17 minutes and 26 seconds. His winning time last year was 2:13:42.

Five-time winner Jimmy Muindi of Kenya was second for the second consecutive year, finishing almost a minute and a half behind Tolossa. His time was 2:18:53. Alvetina Biktimirova of Russia was the women’s winner with a time of 2:33:07. Tolossa said he was happy to win again, and said, “Now Honolulu is my home.”

What’s up with Waikiki?

What’s up with ? Believe it or not you can watch free movies on a gigantic 30 foot screen on weekends showing right on , although I’m sure that’s not why you went to in the first place.

You more than likely went to backpack to a volcano, visit the , see hundreds of species of animals at the 42 acre , hike , or just lay on the beach. By the way strange fact about Waikiki in the 1920’s and 1930’s sand was sent in on barges from Manhattan Beach CA. because of erosion. Who knew?

Waikiki was once a vacation retreat for several Hawaiian royalty. Now it is home to some of the finest resorts and hotels in the world like the “Hilton” and the “Ala Moana”, that’s because it always the perfect temperature 75 °F to 85 °F can you say ahh…

If would like to learn to surf then this is beach to be on with gentle waves not to high for the beginner. Internationally famous Don Ho performed at Waikiki with his huge hit song Tiny Bubbles.

Should you vacation to Hawaii with a package deal or roam around freely? Both are excellent ideas. If you take a package they offer day excursions that while on your own you may not get to enjoy for a lack of knowledge.

No worries you still get plenty of free time and the side trips are not mandatory. Guess what? You don’t have to fly to Hawaii by the way (how else are you going to get there) by cruise ship of course!

Cruising is a fantastic way to see Hawaii and what’s on the way as well. It’s like having your cake and eating it too.

By boat or plane Waikiki or any of the breathtaking islands of Hawaii should be a consideration for your next holiday. See what specials to Hawaii are erupting at your destination for vacations.

If you want a good laugh here’s a video I made – “Tiki Man says you should visit Hawaii”

Sea you on the beaches of Hawaii…
